My son loves this toy. He's usually loses intrest fast in toys but he was so excited to get this toy, but when it arrived the watch part did not work. We thought the battery had died, so we took it to the jewelers to get it replaced with a new one and it still did not work, so I guess the watch it self is just broken. Also, I ordered this for my son because not only could he tell time on it (which he can't any more) but we were excited about showing him how a compass works. I guess I did not read close enough (it is a toy) but the compass is not real and I thought that was kind of chezzy. It would not cost the manufacture much to put A REAL ONE IN. My son was upset that the watch part did not work and hes' the one that bugged us to try to get it fixed. We did not have the heart to tell him the compass was not real, so we just pretend it works :-(. The only part on this toy that works is the secret decoder(oooooohhhh!!).

Bought this item for my 4 year old after owning the Wild Planet Treasure Hunt game (which is fantastic) and thought the quality would be the same. Boy were we sadly mistaken.
My son was very exceited about this toy especially because he has been learning how to tell time but doesn't like wearing a watch on his wrist so this sounded like the perfect solution as well as it being a compass and of course anything Pirate related. So, the reality of this toy is the watch does not work right out of the package and if you want it to work you need to go to a jeweler to have a watch battery put in for an additional $10.00, the compass is not a real compass and we couldn't figure out what the secret decoder was. All in all it was a joke, the fact that you are expected to shell out an additional $10.00 for this item to just get it to work was insulting to say the least. A piece of junk. It was promptly returned. I would not recommend anyone buying this.

We never could get ours to work very well; not enough investment in it to send back. Just had to throw in the toy box for play without actual use. Really don't recommend at all....

Ordered this product as a Santa gift to go along with pirate ship, etc. The digital time part did not work. Tried everything and it never did come on. Regardless, my 5yr old loved it.

This is going to be a great Xmas present for my 5 y/o son. He loves pirates! The decoder is going to be a great extra, he loves spies too!
