The vet thought China's teeth were hopelessOct 31, 2008
By Gaylord Brubaker We took China, our dog, our child really, to the vet to have her teeth cleaned. After the very unpleasant procedure, which required an overnight stay, the vet told us that China's back two teeth were so badly covered with plaque that she had not even tried to clean them. After some research. I discovered PetzLife Oral Care gel, and after two, 4oz bottles, we see a great improvement. The plaque was so thick on China's teeth that it looked more like how barnacles look under an old ship, and now the white of China's teeth is showing, slowly showing more and more.

I ordered Petzlife for my dachshund. He had some stubborn plaque/and tartar on his pointed teeth. I brush his teeth several times a week but it would not budge. We applied this for 2 weeks and it must have loosened it up b/c all I had to do was scrape a little bit and it came off. YAY!!!
EDIT: I am still using this over two years after my first review. It works great for all my dogs! No dentals yet!

Highly recomended aloing with CET tarter controlJul 09, 2009

I first realised the importance of brushing dogs teeth when 1 of my Bischons cracked his large molar... $3000 later, i realised that this product, along with CET tarter controll toothpaste is the best you can get. His other teeth were yellow and the vet said that they will never be white. I brush his teeth and my opther bichons with CET first, then again with petzlife. His teeth are bone white. and my other bichon has teeth that builds tarter very fast. This also helps greatly. From experience this is what i recomend, first. Change over from yoru dry crunchy food to fresh real food, raw meat vegtibles etc, look up a company called the honest kitchen great stuff. Dry crunchy food actually makes teeth worse with all the oils plus its unhealthy. These are animals, and they were created by God to eat other animals and vegtibles, not processed food. Second, brush with CET and then Petzlife nightly. The food change and brushing brought my 2 bichons to have much better health, hair , skin, and teeth then i could have ever imagined! Im glad i found these products, and want to share them with other animal lovers!. I also got my bichons to sit still for me to physically scrape any plaque off there teeth with a dental scraper.. it took a long time to get them used to it, but any plaque buildup is now non existant. and will never need a dental visit or cleaning again since i scrape off any buildup. You all should try it too

Works great, just takes timeJul 13, 2010

The product does work and has dissolved a large amount plaque on my dogs teeth (they also have a version for humans now). All you need is time and you need apply the product according to the directions, which is one to two times a day. They have changed the formula by adding spearmint, which my dogs are not a great fan of. They really preferred the old formula. However, I guess the idea behind the new formula is that it will help freshen the breath.
The ingredients are: Distilled water, grain alcohol, grapefruit seed extract, proprietary blend of herbs and natural oils. The grapefruit seed extract is the ingredient that reduces the plaque. I would also like them to develop an alcohol free product.

Difficult to useApr 06, 2011
By Thomas Its a little early to see if it really does the job (one week) but wanted to get this out to all of you considering purchase. I can comment only on use of product at this time. I have a squeeze bottle rather than the spray. The product is very thick and difficult to squeeze out of bottle. So I remove the cap and squeeze ir to the top and put it on the toothbrush. The cap opening is very small for such a thick liquid. It may be better to use the spray and I may do that the next time, if product truly works as advertised. My Doberman has no problem with rejecting me putting this on his teeth.

This is an update. It was impossible to squeeze the product out of the bottle. I cut the plastic bottle and removed a very thick goopy gel. There is no way this would easily come out by squeezing. I placed the gel in an open glass container and will continue to use the product. I suspect this product was very old, so I can't tell what the outcome will be on my dogs teeth. I a couple of weeks I will try to update.

After having used it twice daily for many weeks, I see no improvement my dogs placque. I just received my dental scraper and used it today. In a half hour had 90% removed. I would suggest you purchase one of them and give it a try. This product was a waste of money. The scraper was $8.90 and I am very happy. Very disappointed to say the least.

I now have some concern about this product being unsafe for some dogs. Around June 2011 I noticed my dog was not eating and lost energy. A Vet visit resulted in testing blood. He was diagnosed with Billi-Rubin, which is a liver bile problem. I had stopped using this product around May 2011. Dr. suggested taking dog to Specialist. I decided to wait. After about 2 months he is now eating and has his energy back-so my feeling is you may want to be very careful using this product. As of this date he is just fine. He is scheduled for Vet appointment in Dec. No special blood work as I feel is just fine. This may not happen to all dogs but beware and watch your dogs eating habits closely.
