Do Not Buy This . . .Jul 12, 2011
By Basil Abraxas
"Baz"
Ok. This doll, while fun and different, has MAJOR execution issues. It is so poorly designed and constructed that I STRONGLY urge people not to buy it. I had several issues with this doll after only a couple days of owning it.
First, the hair. It was coated in so much doll hair-junk that it was stiff, unmovable, and it was all over the dolls face. I was forced to wash the hair because working through it by hand or with the comb did nothing. Several pieces of the hair came off even before I washed it- they didn't even seemed to be attached to it's head. Then after washing with a mild shampoo part of the eyebrows flaked off.
But the worst issue is the body design. The arms and hands are meant to come off but really it's just a cover for the fact it's so poorly designed that clothing can't go on and off without the hands removal. With multiple removals the plastic ends of the arms and hands will wear down and the fit will get looser and looser till they will have to be glued in- this I know from experience with other dolls. (Arms that pop in like that are common in dolls- but most don't count it cynically as a feature.)
And in keeping with the above, this is the first doll I've ever had that the middle leg connector broke. It wasn't even being played with at the time when the poorly designed elastic that holds her legs on snapped. I can't believe this most basic aspect broke after only a couple hours of play time. I'm now going to have to fix it. And! FYI!!! When I googled "broken doll legs" several of the top results had to do specifically with Monster High brand dolls.
So all in all, while the concept of these dolls is strong and unique, I would say don't buy them until the issues get resolved at the manufacturing level first. It's not worth almost twenty bucks if it's going to break almost immediately- and out of many, many dolls that I own this is the soonest and most thoroughly I've ever had one break.

Cleo De Nile DollDec 31, 2011
By Meghan Mayor This doll is great and the cloths are just beautiful and the hair has nice blue streaks of glitter in it but the hair is stiff and this is about the only problem i have with it if you touch her hair it will stick up but that is ok because i do not play with these dolls to me they are just simpley collectibles that is what i think of this doll and if you order online it looks the same as it does in stored of course i got mine from a store but my friend who was no interesten in them ordered this doll online and it came and looked beatiful! By sarahh i think all monster high dolls are cool.my favorite one is cleo de nile.i like that there hands come off so you can dress them and what not.i also think they are way to expensive.i mean some are 20-30 dollars.they should be like 20.all in all great product:)
Defects, Defects, DefectsFeb 15, 2012
By C. Parks Personally, the defects and the weird hair style choice matter little to me. I'll be customizing little Cleo completely, so the quality of her paint job isn't important. But for people who want her for who she is, this is a problem. She arrived sticky from her hairmet (her hair is practically a helmet!) with tiny chunks of hair sticking all over he cheeks and neck, like she just came from the hair salon and wasn't dusted off properly. Her face paint, too, was heavily scratched... the circle on her cheek is just a smear. I had to look up a picture of what it was SUPPOSED to look like. Then there are the seams--oh, the seams. For $20, Cleo should have come in better shape. I'm afraid of the sets that run up to $50 on Amazon... will the other girls have problems like these? And moms, you're going to want to replace Cleo's pant leg STAT. I don't know what's going on there, but thank goodness this girl has plastic panties built on! For me, though, this will be a fun customization project. If her hair doesn't return to normal after a good soaking, I'll replace it with a nice wig. And her design is beautiful. I know a lot of people, moms especially, are disgusted with her anorexic proportions, but you need to understand that these dolls aren't meant to be lifelike. They are heavily stylized! They're also monsters, so of course they're going to be a bit disproportionate. I love their design!
