MutlukesJul 24, 2008

I have a 100 pd. German Sheperd. He is my baby and loves to swim in the pool. Our pool is pebble tec so his feet were getting torn up. As well we live in Arizona and the pavement is too hot for him in the summer. After much research i ordered the Mutlukes. They are great, they are easy to put on and stay on. He prances in them very proudly. I am extremly happy with them. I would recommend them.
Love them!Apr 22, 2012
By Min I love these boots, my dog wears them inside so she won't lick her paws. They are very handy and work well, stay easily. Make sure you don't put them on too tight.
Stops the snowballsJan 13, 2012
By G. Smith All in all, these are worth having, although I was very glad to find a good price on them!
We bought our first set of Muttluks about 5 years ago, in a local pet shop so we could get the size right. We'd had enough of our Golder Retriever stopping every 10 feet on our morning and nightly walks to clean out the snowballs from her paws. Frustrating for us, probably painful for her. That set was getting thin, so we bought a new set for her, and one for the puppy - now a year old mostly Golden Retriever. the big improvement over the original set we had is a rougher bottom - so the dog doesn't slide on ice as badly. Unfortunately, the Spandex cuffs are now shorter, so more snow gets in - and we haven't had much snow this winter.
We get a lot of comments from drivers on the reflective tape on the velcro. I also use that periodically to shine my light on and be sure all the boots are present. They do slip off periodically, for a variety of causes, and they are expensive enough to go back for! We've found that giving the dog a treat after putting on the booties helps a lot. The older dog hated having them put on - and some mornings she wouldn't go for a walk, just to avoid them. She never liked having her feet messed with. But now that we give a small treat, it's worth it.
A good dog bootJul 03, 2011

I purchased the yellow all-weather Muttluks at my local pet store. I paid more there than I would have through Amazon, but I really needed something for my 8 year old White German Shepherd who underwent surgery for 5 ruptured discs. She still can't stand or support her weight on her own and I need to walk her around with the help of a harness on her back end. She drags her feet as she walks and her toes have sores that just wouldn't heal no matter how much I cleaned them and applied neosporin.
After getting the Muttluks, I can walk her up the road to the stop sign and back home again without fear of scraping her toes up. After 10 weeks she was so tired of seeing the backyard that the ability to just walk up the street and back a short distance did her a world of good! She would have kept going if I hadn't turned her around. She looked happy with her ears perked forward and just taking in the sights as we walked up the road.
The Muttluks are a little hard to get on, but that makes them a little bit better in my opinion. I've tried other brands of booties and they'd fall right off. I tried childrens socks and couldn't get them to stay on even with using the self stick elastic bandages wrapped as tightly as I dared without cutting off her circulation. These Muttluks stay on as long as I have the wrap pulled tight. I only needed one pair as only her hind feet need the protection right now but I have the other 2 boots to use as these two wear out.
My only complaint (other than the expense) is that the boot flips around so that the sole is on the top of her foot. No product is perfect and I can't fault the Muttluks for that. All in all these are a good boot and I look forward to seeing Blondie's sores heal up in the next week or so of using these All-weather Muttluks. I'm hoping that these boots will hold up to the scraping of her back feet as she rehabilitates and regains strength in her hind legs again. Even if she doesn't regain the ability to support her own weight again, these boot will protect her hind feet from harm as I support her.
One suggestion I would make is that Muttluks offer these boots either singly or in pairs as well as the standard 4 pack. This would certainly make it more economical for the customer if 1 or 2 of the boots would need to be replaced more frequently. In my case both back booties will probably wear quickly and I can't see spending $56.00 for another 4 pack of these boots. They certainly seem to be a quality product though and I guess that is what commands the high price.
I gave 4 stars rather than 5 just because of the boot twisting around and me having to watch it as we walk and turn it back around. Maybe once Blondie's feet stop dragging, it won't be so much of an issue. All in all, I am happy with the all-weather Muttluks and would recommend them.
Great for urban dogs!Feb 26, 2011
By Abswim After this terrible winter there has been so much salt and sand on the roads that my dog's feet were getting torn up--not to mention they were bringing all that muck into the house. I had been researching dog boots for some time and was a little leery of the leather bottoms on these--but for my dogs they are great! In general they stay on (though occasionally they fall off if I don't get them on properly)and the dogs don't mind wearing them. They do stay on in deeper snow which is great too. I took them out the other day in the middle of a rainstorm and their feet stayed dry and clean (yay for no muddy footprints!!).They protect their paws from all kinds of nasty things on the road and the younger dog likes them so much that when we put them on her, she starts to zoom everywhere. I think they make their feet feel pretty darn good. Overall very happy with this product!
