4Great tube for the moneyJun 04, 2010
By J. Novak
Just purchased 2 "Big Slice" tubes to replace 2 identical tubes we have had for a few years. I've purchased dozens of tubes over the years and these have been my favorite. Minus one star for long term durability.

Pros:

1) Nice soft handles with neoprene to protect your knuckles.
2) Neoprene pad for your knees.
3) Fully covered with few seams to catch on and hurt yourself (unlike open donut style tubes).
4) Nice screw on, quick fill, "Boston" valve.
5) Thicker in front, thinner in the rear for easy boarding.
6) Special hook makes it easy to hook to a rope.
7) Price is reasonable.

Cons:

1) They don't last forever, maybe 3 years. This is fine with me considering the abuse they suffer.
2) There is no neoprene where your elbows hit. The canvas is fairly soft so this is not a big deal to me.
3) The webbing where the rope hooks up could be more durable. I reinforced mine so this never became an issue.

Notes:

1) If your kids are sinking this tube it is because they are riding too far forward, not because of where the rope hooks up. Have em lean back till the tube planes out. (See also #4)

2) The handles are important. I've had tubes with hard plastic handles (no good), and really durable coarse fabric handles which were too rough on your knuckles (no good). The handles on this tube are a nice compromise between comfort and durability.

3) The Boston valve is the best. Quick to inflate, quick to deflate, and secure. Our Walmart tubes have press in valves that pop loose and then the tube goes flat. One of my old tubes uses a car type Schrader valve which takes forever to pump up. Boston is the way to go.

4) The Big Slice is for going fast with adults or big kids. Small kids might prefer the open style tubes they can climb down inside and maintain a low center of gravity. Smaller kids can successfully ride fully covered tubes but the open style tubes are easier for the little ones.

5) The Slice sits low in the water and is not bouncy like taller tubes. The Slice is like a sports car while the taller bouncy tubes are like top heavy 4 wheel drive trucks.

6) I've got other tubes but never ride them anymore because I prefer the Big Slice.

5What a RIDE!!!Aug 29, 2006
By Ann GouldingNugent "Dreamrsmom"
The Airhead Slice is a BLAST on the water!!! I'm a 46 yr. old woman that doesn't enjoy boating, but to solve the issue of teenagers fighting over who goes first, on the new tube, I got suckered into jumping in the water and going for a ride. It was great!!! Of course, once I finished my ride, the kids never let me back on the tube. LOL It's great for one or two people...you can lay on it, or sit up. Excellent choice for on the water fun!

2experienced tube ownerAug 27, 2009
By amy m johnson "a johnson"
Purchased this tube after our ninja blaster finally quit on us after 3 seasons. The hookup for the tube is on the bottom of the tube so the kids were continually getting pulled under water until the boat and tube plained out. This is a fairly dangerous situation especailly for new tubers that didn't let go and got dragged for several yards under water before they came up for air???. The new tube also created lots of spray which we never had before, the kids asked for goggles so they could see. Yes once we were up and running it provided a great and bouncy ride but these are definitely issues.

5Great BuyJun 30, 2008
By Drew Patin
I am very pleased with the Big Slice. It was one of the more modestly-priced towables, but has proven to be great fun. The kids love it and two nine-year-olds can ride it comfortably at one time. However, it is not large enough to ride two adults. It has plenty of handles and an easy and quick tow-rope connection point. I am very satisfied with it.

5Instant Endorphin RushJul 06, 2009
By C. Truskiewicz
I bought this tube last summer for my 7 year old son because I thought he would be nervous to go out on the tube alone. He was the first one on it alone!! The entire family LOVES IT!! Here are some facts: it's not to fat to climb on it while in the water, it comfortably fits two adults yet it isn't so big you can't fit it on a 19 foot boat, but the best fact of all..... you laugh hysterically on it. It is an instant endorphin rush... feeling a little cranky... sad... it's a natural upper. One negative...it's a little tough on the arms especially if you are out of shape!
