This was really a nice hat. The elastic in the back kept it from being too tight for my son's head. He loved the hat. It is more than a toy. My son used it for a report for school on the Civil War.

As a genealogist a friend and I put together a lecture on locating civil war service information. Everyone from her lineage was Union and mine was mostly Confederate so we wore our opposing hats for the presentation.

This is a good quality item for the price. No worries buying it - it fit our child's head as expected. Buy a couple for each side so all the kids can play! (When my son opened this he was hoping he was getting a full uniform. Too bad they don't make a uniform. We were sure to buy him the Civil War Musket replica cap gun.)

For 8 bucks and some change, its a nice hat. If your hats size is bigger than 7 3/8, I doubt this will fit you. Its tight on me. But the elastic band pulls it down pretty small to fit smaller heads. Pretty well mad overall. I gave it mid stars, only because I don`t see a hat as a toy.
